Courted by Pilates…

For years, I courted dance—Brazilian Zouk, to be specific—with every fiber of my being. I moved for it, breathed for it, taught it, lived it. But love, I learned, can be complicated. Dance loved me back, yes, but only in pieces. It caressed me with the joy of music and movement, but never held me completely. There was always something just beyond reach, some wholeness I couldn't quite find within it. I kept dancing, kept hoping that the next class, the next performance, the next moment would feel like coming home. It never quite did.

Then, almost imperceptibly, something shifted. Cross-training had always been part of my routine—mat Pilates on the side, a tool to support the dancing I really cared about. But one day, I started paying real attention. I began to notice the precision, the intelligence built into every movement. The way classical Pilates didn't ask me to chase; instead, it began to court me. And what a courtship it has been. Unlike dance, which required constant pursuit, Pilates drew me in through something deeper—a conversation between my body and my mind, a system so comprehensive and so thoughtful that every session revealed something new. The love affair has only grown stronger. Now, I don't chase it anymore. It chases me. Every apparatus, exercise, every principle speaks to me with a kindness and clarity that feels like finally being fully seen.

What strikes me most about classical Pilates is what it has learned—not from one lineage, but from everything Joseph and Clara studied and absorbed: yoga, martial arts, dance, corrective exercise, the science of the body itself. It honors all of these traditions while being entirely its own thing. And that's the invitation I want to extend to you: to follow your heart to whatever practice calls to you, but to do it fully, honestly, without apology. For me, that's Pilates—a love story that's only just beginning - a lifetime of movement and discovery still ahead. I invite you to step in and see where your heart leads.
